Pretty bad movie - Men in Black Reviews

For the most part, I like Will Smith's movies. However, this movie doesn't fit that stereotype. There really isn't anything good about this movie. The story is dumb, the acting is probably worse than mediocre and the direction is a disappointment. Overall this movie was a waste. I'm not saying it was terrible, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I'd rather fight aliens than go eat at Norms and go to Forbidden City and Chi. This movie kicks-ass. Way better than Scary Movie 3.

Excellent! - Men in Black Reviews

Terrific idea - Men in Black Reviews

There are thousands of aliens walking the planet without us knowing about it? Really? Most of them live in New York? Oh, well, that makes sense. I love New York, and one of the reasons why is, simply, walking down the street I glance from face to face and half expect to see hinges on the human-suits. Will Smith is genuinely funny here, before black jokes took over his sense of humor. He looks terrific in the suit provided by MIB, too. Tommy Lee Jones, oposite Smith, is drier than a piece of burnt toast and couldn't be more hilarious. The less emotion he shows, the harder we laugh. He's either mildly annoyed or slightly amused through the entire film. And, of course, Vincent D'Onofrio is terrific. Here's an all-too-rare peek into the funnier side of D'Onofrio. His voice /is/ decomposition as Edgar Suit rots. It's great.

D - for dumb humor - Wedding Crashers Reviews

I am simply let down everytime I get talked into going to an american made comedy. Who's rating these comedy movies... post pubescent boys and girls? I guess if you think bare breasted women, stupid cliches' and just plain dumb writing is funny... more power to you. I'll stick to the foreign comedies, until Hollywood can produce something more funny than this type of garbage.

Almost as good as Redford and Newman. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have an incredible relationship. Jones' stoic one-liners and his love of Elvis are wonderful. Will Smith is the street smart young cop with an attitude that becomes a galaxy smart cop with an attitude. Lots of humor and "buddy" spots. Truly one of the better movies around.

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith did a Splendid Job in this film.They were great pairing each other. This film was so interesting on the whole, Especially,Visual Effects made me Surprised. I think this movie is worthy of watching over and over again.

I love sci-fi movies and this being one of the reasons I loved this movie. Besides, the visual effects are flawless proving valuable to the action sequences which also carry a bit of your daily dose of comedy! Men In Black is actually based on the secret underground government agency which supposedly functions unknown to the general public. These men with black suits have been spotted dozens of times and critics say the govt. is indeed running a top-secret agency which is in touch with extra terrestials. No one knows the actual truth, but this movie beautifully showcases this secret agency and their primary motive - "to protect the earth from the scum of the universe." Anyway I had seen this movie before; like a couple of years ago! But still wouldn't get bored to watch it again. Totally worth your time!

Good movie - Men in Black Reviews

This was a pretty good movie. It had some flaws, but overall, it was worth while. Allthough the second movie was better, this was still pretty good. I can not wait until Men In Black 3 comes out.

it's great movie, "oh i'm sorry. is it your aunt?" is my favorite quote from this movie. i think it was funny. it's much better than "independence day" Independence day is more serious like war zone. i love will smith. he is bomb and funny.

Where did this one come from? - Men in Black Reviews

I enjoyed this movie a lot, but the whole time i was watching it, my only thought was, "where did Sonnenfeld come up with this stuff?" i mean, the whole idea is just kinda off the wall. But it made for a great story line. THe acting was wonderful in this movie. Tommy Lee Jones did a great job playing the serious but lovable agent Kay, while Will Smith did a hilarious and outstanding job as the not-so-serious agent Jay. Put the two together and... Bam! Movie magic. THis movie was highly entertaining and fun. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone.

I had Expected the usual Summer trash, but instead it was both witty, and charming, and hilarious. Will Smith, and Tommie Lee Jones have a very interesting chemistry, and work very well together. I always new she was an Alien.

Mib - Men in Black Reviews

MIB, protecting the earth from the scum of the universe. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones = the best comedy alien movie ever. Jay and Kay go out to get rid of the roach-like alien. This MIB is incredibly awesome, but the sequel to this really sucked! Own this movie on DVD! The limited edition. The story was great, the acting was awesome, the directions were good, and the visuals were not bad. Out of five stars, it's a 4.5.

Something different for once - Men in Black Reviews

It was a big shock to see aliens with comedy in such a way. It had a seriousness that caught you at first then just one line at a time with Will keeps you laughing but Will Smith doesn't provide all the humor, Tommy Lee makes it just as funny with him being so outdated and Will constently pointing it out. A giant alien warship is threatening the earth from outer space, and Will Smith is at it, again; defending the planet from extraterrestrial aggression. This time, however, in Barry Sonnenfeld's MEN IN BLACK, the aliens are already here, with their tongues pressed firmly against their cheeks, and Smith is recruited by a veteran secret agent (Tommy Lee Jones) to join the cosmic illuminati. At first glance, MEN IN BLACK is an exaggerated lampoon of every wacky conspiracy theory you have ever heard: Yes, UFO's do land -- and, sometimes crash! -- on the on the earth; the world is run by a handful of shadowy power-brokers; Elvis is still alive; and alien babies are born, every day. In fact, The National Enquirer and the Weekly World News are to those in the know what The New York Times and The Newshour with Jim Lehrer are to the ersatz erudite. The basic comic idea of MEN IN BLACK is a very funny one; that extraterrestrials walk among us, and that this explains the all-encompassing quirkiness of our lives. So...that's why Dennis Rodman...and -- that explains New York! The movie, whose hip homages to its crypto-occult topics is reminiscent of GHOST BUSTERS, is also tender with its characters. Smith as the nice, cool-guy -- who doesn't want to let his astonishment show -- is his usual, charming self. Tommy Lee Jones as the tough guy with a soft underside is also appealing. But, of course, like the comic book figures upon which they are based, these characters are two dimensional sketches who often take a back seat to over-the-top visuals. But, MEN IN BLACK recognizes that it runs the risk of making its characters secondary, and it has fun with that idea -- especially, in a scene in which the foreground action of straight-forward conversation involving Jones is entirely drowned out by the background action between Smith and an alien baby being birthed in the back seat of a sedan. Every good science-fiction movie has contemporary sociology at its core, and MEN IN BLACK tries to shoulder its share. At a distant, secondary or even tertiary level, it tries to draw a parallel between space aliens, and immigrants who come to America, surreptitiously making the point that we do, in fact, live in a world made possible by aliens (they serve our meals and park our cars). It's a Good-Ole'-USA theme, with Smith, the all-American, as its principal salesman. But, you should not see MEN IN BLACK to dispel the misconception that aliens are to be distrusted. If you see this movie with such aims in mind, you may be disappointed. Just see MEN IN BLACK to dispel the heaviness surrounding the subject of aliens (all kinds) with a bit of levity and fun. We be men, and we be black - Men in Black Reviews

This is a good movie with great comedic acting. The visuals are pretty good as well. It is definatley a movie worth seeing.

Excellent movie the entire family can enjoy - Men in Black Reviews

Based on the comic book series of the same name, "Men In Black" is a fun and entertaining movie with lots of comedic bits that will make all ages laugh. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith portray Men In Black agents known only as "J" (Smith), a former NY City police officer, and the veteran Man In Black, "K" (Jones). "K" recruits "J" for service with the ultra-secret organization that works above the law and government that police extra-terristrial activity on Earth after "J" easily runs down an agile alien who was being chased by him and obviously out of shape NYPD officers. Just outside New York City, a ship crashes, and the alien takes the form of the wife abusing farmer. "J" and "K" are ordered to investigate the crash and learn that the alien is a highly dangerous species called a "Bug" (Vincent D'Onofrio). The two then are ordered to investigate the murders of a jeweler, who is actually a royal alien, and his companion. The two arrive at the NYC City Morgue, where they find, along with a morgue worker (Linda Fiorentino), that one of the murdered is actually a tiny alien inside a robot. Just before he dies, the alien, who has a loyal pet cat that will not leave him, tells "J" and the morgue worker that "the galaxy is on Orion's belt." "J" and "K" have to find the galaxy, which the "bug" is also searching for, as a warship from the dead royal's planet enters orbit around Earth - or the alien ship will destroy Earth. The special effects are excellent, but, like most computer generated characters, they don't look real. The puppets built for many scenes are slightly better, though they also don't look like living creatures. The acting is campy much of the time, but that is by design. Smith, and especially Jones are fantastic in their roles. I found D'Onofrio amusing as the "Bug," but he just doesn't come across as an evil alien who does not care for other creatures, and Fiorentino comes across as a bit too serious most of the time when the mood is lighter. The movie is an excellent movie for the entire family, with only a sprinkling of strong language that may offend some.
